Be careful which lamps you buy. Use only High Output (H.O.) lamps in Tek-Light™ T5, Sun Blaze®, Inner Sun™, Spectra Max, Ready Fit™ & New Wave® T5 fixtures.

Lamps that are not marked H.O. will have significantly less output.

How are Metal Halide Lights Different from High Pressure Sodium Lights?

The basic difference between these two types of lights is the color spectrum that they emit.

The light emitted from a metal halide lamp is bluer, and is best for vegetative growth, but can be used throughout the plants whole life cycle.

The light emitted from the high pressure sodium lamp is concentrated in the red to yellow side of the spectrum. They are best for the fruiting - flowering stage of the plant's life.

Lights with both metal halide, and high pressure sodium bulbs, in one fixture, are available.

Conversion bulbs are another alternative. For example: a 940 watt HPS conversion lamp bulb will fit into a 1000 watt metal halide system, effectively changing it to the HPS light spectrum.
